Sacha O’Connor

Sacha joined Magnitude Surveys in June 2023 as a Junior Project Officer.

He studied Archaeology at the University of Chester and graduated in 2018, immediately after graduation he worked in the south of England for Wessex Archaeology as a field technician on small – large scale excavations, often on complex multi-period sites. In 2019 Sacha moved north to join the geophysics team at AOC Archaeology as a field assistant, where he worked for three and a half years, mainly on geophysics projects ranging from large infrastructure schemes such as East West Rail and HS2, to smaller community led projects. During his time at AOC he also worked with the excavation teams on several projects across the country.

In 2022 Sacha briefly left geophysics to work for ADAS as an Archaeology Consultant. In this role he worked on watching briefs, heritage statements, desk-based assessments, and excavation reports, before joining Magnitude in June 2023.

In his spare time Sacha is a supporter of Newcastle United (HWTL!) and is also a keen sea fisherman. He has his own research project in Northumberland studying a cropmark site using a mix of drone and geophysical survey, which he hopes to continue to progress in the future alongside local community groups.
