Learning and Development Manager

About the role:

The Learning and Development Manager will oversee the training and development for all staff, as part of the Company’s commitment to ensure staff are consistently trained and able to undertake the activities within their role with confidence and autonomy. The Learning and Development Manager plays a key team player role and will be expected to work closely with the Company’s Senior Management Team to develop and implement training and development strategies. This may involve assisting other managers in their training and development activities, or personally delivering training and development activities. This role will mainly be office based but will require regular (c. 25% of the time) site visits for training and auditing purposes. These site visits may require staying away, depending on the survey location. 

Requirements

  • A post graduate degree in archaeology, geophysics, geology or a related field
  • Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning and Development or similar qualifications.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists at ACIfA/MCIfA grade. 
  • A minimum of 7 years working in commercial or academic/research archaeology, this must include a minimum of 3 years of undertaking or managing archaeological projects. Demonstrable relevant experience and/or training or qualifications may contribute to the project management experience. 
  • Experience in learning and development, training, or related activities. 
  • Solid theoretical and practical understanding of magnetometry, ground penetrating radar, and electromagnetic techniques and their archaeological applications.  
  • Experienced in undertaking geophysical surveys, including data collection, data processing, data QA, and reporting. 
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, able to build relationships with diverse individuals across the organisation. 
  • Able to balance different demands or perspectives from people with different job roles and responsibilities.  
  • Experience as a line manager or mentor. 
  • Proactive individual who takes initiative in role and can work with autonomy.  
  • A solid understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to commercial geophysical survey.
  • Effective at task prioritisation and can balance workloads and priorities based on the importance and urgency of different tasks. 
  • A full and clean UK driving licence. 
  • A willingness to travel within the UK. 
  • A valid CSCS card
