Project Officer

Daniel Byrne

Dan graduated in 2014 with a Masters in Geophysics from Leeds University in 2014. Prior to transitioning to archaeological geophysics at Magnitude, Dan was involved in a wide variety of environmental and engineering geophysics projects at all levels, from beginner to project lead, in the UK and abroad.
He has sailed away from a hurricane in the Arabian Sea (in between processing seismic reflection data), avoided and helped people to avoid unexploded ordnance, pushed GPR systems over everything from railway sleepers to concrete sea walls, run seismic and ERT arrays over dams and university campuses, assessed the ground conductivity under active landfill sites (ew)… the list goes on.
Dan joined Magnitude in August 2024. You’ll normally find him upstairs, holed up with the other project officers and a strong cup of tea, puzzling over the meaning of a small but interesting squiggle in that day’s data.
