Junior Project Officer

Lucy Johnson

Lucy graduated with a degree in Classical and Historical Archaeology from the University of Sheffield in 2015 and began her career in commercial archaeology the following year. She gained a wide range of field experience as an archaeologist working on projects across the UK. In recent years she progressed to lead teams on site and undertake the subsequent reporting tasks as a Project Officer on excavations in York and the HS2 infrastructure project. Lucy particularly enjoyed working on urban sites in London and York, especially the kind that involved climbing down ladders into trenches to record deeply stratified deposits.

Lucy joined Magnitude Surveys at the beginning of 2025 as a Junior Project Officer. She is enjoying the shift from excavation to geophysical survey in the field and the opportunity to interpret landscapes on a broader scale.

Outside of work, she enjoys going to gigs and heading out on walks with her Springerdoodle, Trev. She is also forever in a cycle of becoming briefly, but intensely, absorbed in new interests and hobbies before moving onto the next, so it is difficult to say what these are at the present time.
